How to Measure Staff Engagement in Adult Social Care Without Creating Survey Fatigue
Staff engagement is often treated as a “soft” topic, but in adult social care it is a measurable operational risk and quality driver. When engagement falls, absence rises, supervision becomes inconsistent, documentation quality drops and safeguarding concerns are less likely to be escalated early. The most effective approach is to measure engagement in ways that support action rather than compliance. Regulator / Inspector expectation (CQC): Under Well-led and Safe, inspectors look for evidence that staff are supported, listened to, and able to raise concerns. They also look for governance that identifies workforce risk early and acts to protect people from harm.
